Step 4 – Determine Your Housing Needs and Neighborhood

There are two ways to shop to buy a house:

  • You can shop for a neighborhood OR
  • You can shop for a house

Facts to consider:

  • Who will be living in the house?
  • Where would I like to send my children to school?
  • When am I going to be ready to buy?

Sometimes it is not possible to get everything in a house for the amount you can safely afford to pay every month. Use the My House Checklist and What I Want in My Neighborhood tools to begin "house-hunting."
